The decision by Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited (IVL) to acquire Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) plant of Polypet Karyapersada is in line with IVL’s business strategy to become the largest and the most efficient PET producer in the world. IVL has maintained its leadership in the polyester value chain by integrating its PET plants with upstream and downstream products. IVL’s PET production capacity has grown quickly in the last decade through joint ventures and acquisitions. This acquisition will establish the company in the fast growing Indonesian market.

After the acquisition the company will integrate this plant with the Polyprima Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) plant which it acquired in July 2011. The PTA plant will provide raw material for PET production and will help the company to grow in the Indonesian PET market. PET has the largest share in IVL’s revenue and Polypet acquisition will further increase the sales by providing access to another market.
